Variación de los caracteres foliares en comunidades vegetales del centro de la Argentina bajo diferentes condiciones climáticas y de uso del suelo

Leaf functional traits in a plant community are the result of effect environmental conditions and have direct impact on ecosystem properties functioning. We analyzed variations five leaf communities from central Argentina under different climatic anthropogenic use determining changes physiognomy. Study sites were located Córdoba province (Argentina) within four phytogeographic units categorized according to their condition based an aridity index; they named as ‘climatic units’ 1, 2, 3 4, following gradient lower higher temperature aridity. In each unit we selected six two physiognomies corresponding degrees use: woodlands (less use), grasslands/shrublands (more intense use). measured (specific area [SLA], dry matter content [LDMC], toughness, thickness decomposability), calculated weighted mean for trait site. The mainly determine by conditions. physiognomic change, because use, also affected these variations, but this was conditioned climate. Under colder wetter conditions, removal tree species dominate grasses with conservative foliar values (e.g., SLA, toughness decomposability). However, warmer drier did not imply change strategy it resulted increase dominance dicotyledonous shrub relatively high decomposability. Our results show interactive climate complexity predict effects such processes.
